A Valentine's Day Story:

How Phyllis and Elbert Met

By Margaret

In TellOurLifeStories.com there is a section of Story Ideas where you can find some inspirations about how to approach your stories and what to write about.

One of those ideas is the "As Told To" story.

The As Told To story is one you have heard, possibly numerous times. It is a story that may live large in the life of your family.

It may be poignant, or it may be hilarious, but if you don't record it, it will be lost!

This Valentine's Day Story is one that I've heard many times from my dear friend Phyllis. She is now 85 and lost her husband of many years just two years ago.

This story takes place right after World War II. Elbert had returned from Japan and India where he had worked as a medic. Elbert reported that during the war, "I never killed anyone."

The story was most fun to hear from Elbert with Phyllis chiming in details. Now that he is gone, I had to record it for my dear friends.

Here is the story: How Phyllis and Elbert Met
